The Art we Don't Always Notice

To many artists, there is a distinction between looking and seeing. There are so many works of art around us, within our daily life that we do not notice. Day in Day out, people drive on the freeway, but it is not frequent that we stop and ask... "What inspired this to look this way?", "Why are the traffic lines yellow and not neon green?". Walking around, one may find themselves in a position to simply accept reality and move on, however, what caused this reality to look one way or another is quite something to think about.

This world looks as it does, but in many aspects, it came down to Art. Even most technical things were formed from creative forces of inspiration. Even on the computer keyboard I am typing on, I can see that the creators wanted to make it look a certain way, just like a painter has a visual goal for their paintings.

Even before man, there was art in nature. The earth is a canvas that paints itself. Like a sculpture, its mountains melt together to form an evergreen glaze. The clouds wrap around the hills a wispy embrace, and flow through the valleys a drifting ocean.

The shades, colors and hues found in this natural world can bring pleasure to our senses just as a painting or sculpture would do. So much can be seen when you look.
